What is an electric water heater?
Before you decide to buy an electric water heater, it is good to know what a water heater is. A boiler is, just like a geyser, a device for heating water for, for example, your kitchen or shower in your house, caravan or chalet.
In an electric boiler, a supply of water is heated in a thermally insulated vessel and kept at the right temperature by means of an electric heating element. This means that you can set the temperature of the hot water yourself. A thermostat continuously measures the temperature of the water and ensures that when it becomes too low the heating element is activated. This way the water stays at the right temperature and you always have access to hot water.
When the stock of hot water is used up, new cold water flows into the boiler so that it can be heated. How long this takes depends on the capacity of the boiler, we have boilers of 7, 10, 15, 30, 50, 80 and 100 liters in our range.
The pros and cons of electric water heaters
One of the main reasons for choosing an electric water heater is that they are easy to assemble and you only need connections for electricity and water. In addition, electric boilers are smaller than gas geysers, they require less maintenance, they do not need a flue gas discharge and they do not use oxygen.
Because the water in an electric boiler is constantly kept at the right temperature, you use more energy than with a geyser or instantaneous water heater. Unless you generate energy yourself, this can be seen as a disadvantage. Do you not generate your own energy, but do you want to have sustainable hot water? Take a look at our range of propane geysers or natural gas geysers.
We supply electric boilers from three different manufacturers, namely: TTulpe, Thermex and Eldom. So there is always a model that suits your budget and use.
